Recently the Coastal community of Burnie in Tasmania was made aware of the proposed bulk usage of Methyl Bromide within its Port precinct.
Much research was completed as a public and political uproar became evident.
This TOXIC gas has been BANNED in many parts of the world for its possible connections to Death and Environmental Destruction,yet was proposed to be used in close proximity to the Main Business District of Burnie.
PEOPLE POWER WON this challenge and had the fumigation moved out to sea for the safety of Burnie residents,but unfortunately still to the detriment of the atmosphere the gas was released.
In excess of 1.5 tonnes of Methyl Bromide was estimated to be released into the atmosphere adding to the destruction of the earths Ozone Layer.
We must lobby our Federal Members to have the use of this KILLER STOPPED,join in and support this worthy cause
