Petition Title: Suspend Payroll Taxes
United States By Tax Vacation

Location: United States, United States
Updated on 8/26/2010
Created on 4/27/2010

We the undersigned citizens petition the United States Senate and House of Representatives to suspend all payroll and income taxes, including employer contributions, for one year, and direct employers to remit their share of payroll taxes to the employees who earn them.

We believe a tax vacation will create the following benefits:

1. Stimulate the economy at its citizen foundation where consumption and savings will promote production and job creation.

2. Eliminate compliance and preparation costs for individuals and businesses.

3. Halt service and enforcement costs for government.

4. Discourage credit expansion and deficit spending to support at great citizen expense the following unnecessary burdens:

    A. Aggressive worldwide military commitments well in excess of our nation's defensive needs, including two counter-productive wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; occupations in Europe, Japan, and Korea long after hostilities there have ceased; and more than 700 military bases in foreign lands.

    B. Bailouts, subsidies, and protections for privileged private corporations, trusts, and associations.

5. Encourage the sale of government businesses that compete against U.S. citizens.  These burdensome liabilities require periodic bailouts, regular subsidies, and anti-competitive protections at a net loss to the public.  http://libertyamendment.org

6. Facilitate and help fund the transfer of failing government social development programs to social entrepreneurs who can leverage the power of voluntary social markets to aid and empower citizens in need.

7. Challenge the destructive influence of narrow special interests, and attract more votes for political candidates than any other issue.  Working taxpayers are the largest interest group in each congressional district.  As such, they can turn Washington's favorite tactic, vote buying, against it, and reward honest public servants who reclaim for citizens the pivotal tax resource now squandered on runaway government expansion.  A tax recess can poll more votes than any special interest lobby can buy for handouts.

Do politicians buy votes with your taxes?  Then buy your taxes back with your vote.  To regain control of your government and your economy, please sign the petition and share it widely.  Create tax incentives for peace and freedom as you remove them for war and corporatism.

To Jasmer2: addressing your concerns regarding section 4A, withdrawal from occupations and intrusive bases around the world does not mean abandoning a vital US military. In fact it means improving its vitality, loyalty, and effect in defending this country while reducing nationalist resistance and resentment worldwide. As well, Europe, Japan, and Korea can afford to defend themselves.

I heartily endorse these ideas except only slightly on #4A. Without a vital USA military, this entire world would NOW be a Hell-hole of TOTALITARIAN nightmare insanity of evil. But I do agree we need to get out of both Afghanistan & Iraq if we are NOT there to win. Obama's rules of engagement DIRECTLY lead to the DEATH of American soldiers & citizens & the SAFETY of the Islamo-fascist Nazi terrorists.

This proposal is a real economic stimulus, unlike the international bankster frauds. The Enemy will oppose it for many reasons, especially since if we go a year without these taxes and the depression ends, the American people will realize that the government does not need to reimpose them. This proposal has much in common with the Liberty Amendment, a legitimate tax reform which, as its name implies, will go a long way toward restoring our God-given Constitutionally guaranteed liberties. Candidates for state offices, especially the legislative candidates, should be required to support a similar plan at the state level.
