This is a petition to stop the local mountain bike and BMX dirt jumps at Depot Rd Mortdale Sydney AUS from being destroyed. We need the support of the riders and local community members to save the Depot Rd dirt jump. This can only happen if we prove that it is used and respected by not only the locals but also the people that travel to ride at the dirt jumps.

This petition it is to counteract the ignorance that is the reason for the destruction of these dirt jumps. Not only do these jumps provide an area for the local youths to enjoy and ride their bikes in a safe manner; it probably keeps youths from participating in illegal activities and causing damage to local property. The removal of these dirt jumps would also cause a large increase in the making of illegal dirt jumps on either private, council or crown land which can be classified under destruction of property. The land in which this jumps are situated provides an area that people of all ages can learn and hone their skills by riding and building dirt jumps in a safe, supported and open area. Due to the location of the area, which is open and visible to the wider public, it allows for more people to become interested in the sport and encourages the users to act responsibly. The positioning of this area also allows for events to be held which are important to the riders and their families; these events are supported and funded not by the Council at cost to the local community, but by local businesses such as The Bike Shed Mortdale. These events bring the riding community together for enjoyment and fun competitions. The removal of these jumps will not only effect the people who ride here but the local businesses which they buy food and drinks from.

As you can see from above, the removal of these jumps will cause many issues in the local area, as this sport keeps the youths active, entertained and involved in a productive, healthy lifestyle.

Please remember not only does our community use this facility but it is well recognized by bike riders from outside our local region.

Please support this if you care for the riders, local business, youths, the local community or if you are like myself and want to see more legal, public areas become available so that mountain biking and BMX can grow as a sport.

i strongly disagree with the destruction of these jumps, if these jumps were destroyed where do they expect us to ride? this would just be the result of a huge increase of riders building illegal tracks and also illegally riding in schools and areas thats they are not meant to be in. i think the destruction of depo jumps will have the result of other major problems
